Comedor Doña Clara

For Comedor Doña Clara and Ometepe Island, Nicaragua, we created two films that explore the relationship between a place and the people who shape it.

This project was initiated and largely self-funded by our team. We believe that storytelling can be a powerful way to support local businesses and give visibility to voices that deserve to be heard.

The first film is a documentary-style portrait of Clara, the owner of Comedor Doña Clara. Through her personal story, viewers gain insight into life on Ometepe and the values that define both her work and the island itself. Clara speaks about the beauty of living on Ometepe, the importance of using locally sourced ingredients and the close connection between the island's people and its natural resources. The film also carries a message of entrepreneurship and self-determination, as Clara encourages younger generations to build something of their own and create opportunities through hard work and dedication.

The second film focuses on Ometepe itself. Through cinematic imagery and an immersive pace, we set out to capture the island's unique atmosphere—its tranquility, natural beauty and slower rhythm of life. Rather than presenting a travel guide, the film invites viewers to experience the feeling of being there, inspiring curiosity and a desire to discover Ometepe for themselves.

Together, the two films create a narrative that connects personal stories with a sense of place, showing how the character of an island is reflected in the people who call it home.
